Environment
Pont de Montvert (875 m a.s.l.), the village with 3 bridges is
situated at the foot of Mount Lozere ( 1700 m a.s.l. ) the highest point
of the Cevennes National Park.
This historical site, land of exile for the Knights of the
Order of Malta, village where the Camisards was broke out, is located on
the banks of the Tarn, near to the springs and 20 km from the Gorges.
In the heart of the Cevennes National Park you can visit and discover
:
- the Mount Lozere Ecomuseum, Camargues farmhouse, Troubat;
- Bondons' menhirs (2nde highest number in Europe);
- Grizac castle(where Pope Urbain V was born);
- Mount Lozere ski resort;
- Villaret valley (chidren's village- 20 km away);
- protected fauna : stags ( troating in autumn), does, roe-deer,
beavers, wild boar, vultures, deer, wolves, bison...
- a very rich flora with 2000 species of which 43 are orchids.
- Tarn gorges.
- Runes waterfall.
- the Régordane way.
- Garde Guerin (fortified medieval village).
